Philip James O'Doherty, 2016 Dressler Drive, died, Wednesday evening, December 10, 2008 at Alleghany Regional Hospital.
Mr. O'Doherty, 76, was born in Woburn, Massachusetts, son of the late Hugh J. and Mary McGowan O'Doherty.
He served his county during the Korean War with the United States Air Force. Mr. O'Doherty was a graduate of the University of Stockbridge at the University of Massachusetts in Ameherst, MA For most of his career he was the Director of Food Services for several collages with the last one being at College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. He retired as the Food and Beverage Controller at the Greenbrier Hotel at White Sulpur Springs, WV. Mr. O'Doherty was a past president of the White Sulphur Springs Rurtian Club where he received the Paul Harris Award; he was honorary member of the Order of the White Jacket College of William and Mary and also was a member of the honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh O'Doherty and Thomas O'Doherty.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Lois Sullivan O 'Doherty of Covington; nine children, Patrick and Teresa O'Doherty of Winston-Salem, NC; Michael and Lisa O'Doherty of Herndon; Stephen and Nancy O'Doherty of Arlington; Thomas and Laurie O'Doherty of Reston; Jane O'Doherty of Winchester; Margaret and Bill Corcoran of Richmond; Kathleen and Shawn Booker of Lynchburg; Barbara and Doug Young of Glen Allen; Beth and Kevin Kennedy of Raleigh, NC; 29 grandchildren ; one great grandson; one brother, John O'Doherty of Woburn, MA; two sisters, Rose Dunleavy and twin sister, Phyllis McGuerty both of Boston, MA and a number of nieces and nephews.
