As Christmas approaches, I know Dionne's family will feel a heavy loss. My condolences to the whole family. I was away when the news came and last night I saw the beautiful tribute to her in the front of the High School - flickers of light and love which really looked like candles that would never burn out, as long as there is reflected light. My heart is especially heavy for SaMone who I came to know at JeterWatson school. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your whole family this entire Christmas season!

My heart goes out to the Moore/Jefferson/Hatcher family of Dionne and to the myriad of people who knew her; for Dionne has left an indelible impression upon everyone she ever encountered. Her gentle ways, illuminating, infectious smiles and laughter affected everyone she encountered. She had a way of making everyone feel better by being around her. I indubitably say that she was one of the kindest, most beautiful, and purest friends that we all were blessed to have in our lives. Her essence of beauty came from within that was matched by her angelic ways, friendship and dedication to the ones she loved. My prayers are with each you. Always know that we (the community family) are here for each of you and that you are not alone. Her passing has been a shock to everyone. We may deliberate on the “whys” of life; but know that there is a purpose for all things. Trust in God and lean not unto your own understanding. Our Lord has said…” fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand … For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” I pray that our Lord and Saviour will Comfort you and give each of you a Spirit of Peace. Death is but an open door to be with our Lord and Saviour and what a Celebration. She's out of sight for a little while, and you'll miss her touch and smile, But you know Dionne is safe in the home above where there is nothing but Peace and Love. Dionne was true. Her memories will live on within the hearts of the myriad of people she has touched, and through her beautiful children, grandchildren and family. They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies. With love and prayers.—Kenneth L. Anderson and family

God has received another beautiful Angel. I knew Dionne and her family fairly well. She was always there at CHS to offer a smile, words of encouragement, give a hug if needed to all of our kids. She was really good to my daughter Dakota. She loved her family more than anything in the world. My heart goes out to them and I know this will be a very difficult time for them and for all of those who loved Dionne. God will pull her family and the entire community through this. We all need to stick together and be there for each other through this very difficult time. Dionne would want us to. When you gaze into the night sky and see a very bright star..... this will be Dionne, looking out for us. RIP beautiful lady. We will all meet again someday.

It's no secret that her smile lit up a room! One of the most compassionate and caring women I have ever met. I remember growing up I always thought she was my aunt, even though we are related through marriage that's how much she made me feel loved! She took pride in being a mother and her relationship with her family is one even im envious of. But it is through them that her spirit and sweet sweet smile will live on. Dionne was a women not of this world, and it was time for her to go home. I pray for comfort for her family and close friends in the days to come, may they always feel her with them and trust in His plan. Thank you Dionne for all the kind words you ever spoke to me, for always making me feel loved, and for impacting a community who sometimes needs a reminder to cherish each day. We will always remember you..

Dionne and I were once related through my marriage to her oldest sister, Patrice. While our marriage did not last, my connection with Dionne did continue, mostly through Facebook and whenever I was able to vist Clifton Forge, Covington or Roanoke. Dionne always opened up her home with a smile, a hug, and her warm laugh. Dionne was one of the sweetest people on the planet. She always offered a kind word or positive perspective on things. She loved her children and her family and I still consider her to be one of my sisters. She was my favorite as she would come to my rescue when I was being skewered or picked on by one of the other strong Jefferson women. Dionne was a person that I would say never offered ill-will to the world. I just can't imagine it and that is the Dionne that I will always remember, love, and hold dear to my heart. My heart is so heavy knowing that she is no longer with us in the flesh, but any and every memory of Dionne brings a smile to my face. She was an angel in my eyes well before God called her home. My condolences and love to the Jefferson and Moore families! Sincerely, Marco Dowell
