Cousin Timmy and Danny: I was so sorry to hear about your Dad, my Uncle Dale, passing away. I always liked your Dad. I thought he had the best sense of humor, and over the years he made me laugh so many times. I would say that his "need to be funny gene" has passed on to me. Steve, my brother, and I use to always say that we had our twins in West Virginia, Dale was Steve and Jim was me. Four redheads in one place, now that is scary. You know that "Redheads" have to stick together because we are a small very special group of people. I know what it feels like to lose your Father. It reminds you of your own mortality and the passing of time with you and your own family. You will miss him, and the stories and memories that people will come up and tell you will be hard to hear in the beginning. But believe me as time goes on, these same stories and memories will become so comforting to you because it allows you to remember your Dad with clarity and never forget him. You will want to hear these stories over and over again, and be searching for new ones. You will realize that these stories are what keeps your Dad current and fresh in your memory. It also allows you to remember all of the good things your Dad represented to you, and any negatives seem to grow smaller and smaller and less important as time passes. I tried to arrange to travel from Florida to be at the funeral, but I could not make it work. I am sorry for that, and wish I could be there to help comfort you in some way. I am praying for you and your family to find peace, and remember all of the good that Uncle Dale brought to your life and ours. I will leave you with a great story my wife Carole told me about your Father. She said that at every Porterfield reunion when it was time for your Dad to leave to go home he would say, "Glad you got to see me." Now that is funny! We love you - Michael, Carole, Aaron, and Caroline Webb
