Brown

Lounell Brown Hubble, 85, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, from her home at Scott Hill in Clifton Forge. She was born February 14, 1934, in Crumpler, NC, to the late Major Armfield Brown and Martha Bauguess Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Donald Y. Hubble, in 1979 and five siblings, Fred Brown, Eugene Brown, Beulah Brown, Ola Brown and Ottie Blevins. Lou had worked for many years as a CNA in both Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion and then in later years at Alleghany Regional Hospital in LowMoor and is fondly remembered by many of her co-workers as well as the patients and families that she served. In retirement, she enjoyed relaxing at home, going to church and spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren that were her pride and joy. Cheryl LaRue Gibson, 55, of 1456 S. Howard Avenue died Sunday, February 17, 2019, in Lewis Gale-Alleghany Hospital at LowMoor. Mrs. Gibson was born July 17, 1963, at Keyser, WV, a daughter of the late Clifford and Lois McKay LaRue. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis LaRue and Kenny LaRue. She was employed by the Alleghany School System as a cafeteria worker at Mountain View Elementary and Clifton Middle Schools. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she was a teacher for the young peoples class. Kristine Nichole Harris age 43 of 303 S. Marion Ave, died Sunday February 10, 2019 in Lewis Gale - Alleghany Hospital at Low Moor. She was born May 21, 1975, in Alleghany County a Daughter of Kathy Harris of Covington and the late Raymond McKnight. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a Brother, Raymond "Boodie" McKnight, in 2018; her grandparents, Willie J. and Gertrude Bell McKnight and Warren F. Harris Sr., three Uncles Randall McKnight, Sr., Lewis R. Venable, and Gregory Waddy Sr., and her best friend Dawn Curtis, Godmother Louise Lemon, her aunt Patricia McKnight. She was a member and was baptized at the First Baptist Church and was a former choir member. Kristine was a graduate of Covington High School and continued her education by graduating from the VA Hair Academy as a Licensed Cosmetologist. She later received her certificate as a CNA. Nancy Schooler Nicely, 67, of 325 E. Hawthorne Street died Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Lewis Gale-Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor. Mrs. Nicely was born April 15, 1951, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late William L. "Jim" Schooler and Patty O'Conner Schooler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a Son, Chris "Cornbread" Garrett. She was a CNA with Alleghany Home Health Care. Mary Sue Plymale Woodson, 84, of 526 E. Kline St., died, Saturday January 26, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Woodson was born January 19, 1935 in Bellpoint, WV the daughter of the late George and Trusby Taylor Plymale. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters Nancy Craft and an infant sister and a brother George Plymale. Mary Sue was a member of the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. She was a child care provider and loved to shop and play bingo. Rev. David Robbins Ellis, 84, died Sunday, January 20, 2019, in the Springs Nursing Home at Hot Springs. Rev. Ellis was born April 10, 1934, at Rangeley, Maine, the son of Ardine G. and Mattie Robbins Ellis, In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Spofford Ellis, in 1998 and by a sister, Diane Ellis. He served in the United States Marine Corps in the 1950s. He graduated from Farmington State College in Farmington, ME, and taught school in Maine and Florida until 1977 when he entered Theological Seminary at Erskine College in South Carolina. He pastored churches in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. He pastored Johnson Creek AR Presbyterian Church in Alleghany County and retired from Garrson Memorial AR Presbyterian Church in Bessemer City, NC. Paul Ellis Howard, 69, of 3321 Kanawha Trail died Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Howard was born November 23, 1949, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Garnett and Gladys Crawford Howard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first Wife , Linda Perry Howard, and a Brother, Berlin "Stables" Howard. For the past 26 years Paul has been the Owner and Operator of Alleghany Sportsman Supply in Covington.
