Roy Edgar “Pepper” Hall, Jr., age 81, of Covington, died March 1, 2024, at the Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem.


Roy was born, July 29, 1942, in Alleghany County, and was preceded in death by his parents, the late Roy E. Hall, Sr. and Pauline Breeden Hall; his wife Janice Faye Damewood Hall; a daughter, Karen Hall; a great-grandson, Eli Raether; one sister, Linda Connor,one brother Eddie Hall and a son in law Todd Botkin.


Surviving are two daughters, Debra Botkin, and Tammy (Daniel) Harmon, both of Covington; seven grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; a brother, Steven E. (Beverly) Hall of Covington; two sisters, Kathy Craft of Clifton Forge and Dorothy (Randy) Unroe of Iron Gate;  one half brother Lee Worley and numerous family members.


“Pepper”, as he was affectionately called was employed in the Film Department as a machine operator at AET Corporation and the former Hercules, Inc.; was a member of the National Guard and the Tri- County Coon Hunters and the Lone Oak Hunting Club.


A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 2:00 P.M.  at the Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Steven Noel officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M.  in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service family and friends will gather at Mr. Hall’s residence.
