Gwendolyn McCormack Lindsay, 81, of Roanoke, died Saturday March 11, 2017 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Roanoke. Mrs. Lindsay was born March 30, 1935 the daughter of the late Lewis and Elaine Downes McCormack. She was also preceded in death by a sister in law Gabriele McCormack and a brother Bill McCormack. She retired after 30 years with the Western Electric Company in Baltimore, MD. She most recently worked as a secretary with the Virginia Cattle Association and was a member of the Bonsack United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the P. Buckley Moss Society. Surviving are her husband of 59 years Robert P. Lindsay of Roanoke, a sister Carolyn M. Hinkle of Covington, three brothers Bob McCormack and wife Pam of Covington, Steve McCormack of Covington, and David McCormack and wife Karlee of Troutville, five nieces and nephews Ryan McCormack and wife Sarah of Roanoke, Megan Rivero and husband James of Richmond, Brandi McCormack of Covington, Brady McCormack of Roanoke, and Mallory McCormack of Richmond, four great nieces and nephews Addison, Channing, Kellan and Lilly, a sister in law Julie McCormack of Covington, and cousins. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Urban officiating. The interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be family and friends attending service. The family will receive their friends one hour prior to the service.
