HELEN HOKE Helen Marie Hoke, 78, of 4704 Cartwright Lane, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 from her residence. She was born in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Chris and Ilean Bess Parkins. Mrs. Hoke retired from the former H.O. Canfield in Iron Gate with over 30 years of employment. She was active at the former Curves in Covington and enjoyed caring for her granddaughter, Mindy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Hazel Williams and a brother Chris Berkley Parkins. Surviving are her husband Edward L. Hoke, Sr., of Covington; one son, Edward L. Hoke, Jr. and Robin Bowman of Moneta; four stepdaughters, Betty Eugenia Bunch and her husband Harry, and Emma L Gibson and her husband Danny, all of Covington; Edith Slater of Colonial Heights and Eunice Ruff and Eddie Worley of Chester; three granddaughters, Mindy Hoke of Moneta; Stacy and Tim Warren of Washington, D.C., Erica and Stephen Ogden of Pensacola, Fla. Also, four grandsons; David M. and Christine Smith of Troutville; Darius Liptrap of Ironto; Chris and Pam Ruff of Covington; Jason and Robin Slater of Chesterfield ; three sisters, Mildred Fridley of Clifton Forge; June Craft of Covington and Dreama O'Conner of Loxchatchee, Fla. and one brother, Edward Parkins of Shawsville, and two future step grandchildren, Amber Sloan of Ferrum and William Bowman of Moneta and several nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Danny Fridley, Dwayne Parkins, Darius Liptrap, Danny Gibson, Harry Bunch and Chris Ruff.
