Emma Gertrude "Trudy" Dawson Wright, 80 years old, of Covington, Virginia passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Trudy was born on September 6th, 1942, in Alleghany County, Virginia to Joseph and Mary Dawson. Trudy was preceded in death by her father Joseph Dawson, her mother Mary Dawson, her brothers, Bobby and Billy, and her sister Dorothy “Dot”. Trudy was a homemaker who was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and cooking all of their favorite foods for Sunday dinner. She loved to spoil her grandkids and great grandkids who she loved unconditionally. She loved gardening and canning and decorating her home for the holidays. She enjoyed bluegrass festivals and beach vacations. She was known to play a few rounds of rummy with her grandkids and taught them the art of “sand bagging.” She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of many years, Abraham “Abe” Wright, her siblings John “Johnny” Dawson, Russell "Dean" Dawson and his wife, Teressa and Linda Wright. she also leaves behind her children John Wright and wife Carolyn of Falling Springs, Alvin Wright, of Potts Creek, Virginia, Lorrine Humphries and her husband Roger of Potts Creek, Virginia, Grady Wright and his wife Bridgette of Potts Creek, Virginia, her many grandchildren including Meg, Laura, Jack and his wife Rachel, TJ, Kayla and partner Chuck Harlow, Heather and partner Sean, Josh and his fiancé JoAnna, Alivia, Rowan, Hillary and Ashton Downer, her great grandchildren Kensi, Jordan, Kimber, Jane, Aubrey, and Ellie as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends, including Sharon Wright and Pat Tucker. A funeral service is being held on Sunday December 4, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Pastor Michael Landis officiating. The interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Saturday December 3, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be TJ Wright, Jack Wright, Josh Wright, Benny Lancaster, Brandon Jackson, & Jesse Wright. Alternative Pallbearers will be Laura Wright, and Heather Wright. The funeral arrangement are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
