SONNY BLAND Gilbert Ellis "Sonny" Bland, 58, of 314 Rogers Road died Saturday night, April 21, 2012, at his home with his family by his side. He was born February 11, 1954, in Alleghany County the son of the late Gordon and Louise Tucker Bland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mike Mundy. Sonny worked at the former Hercules, Inc. plant in Covington right out of high school until the closing of his department. He then was employed by Holly Farms in Harrisonburg until his retirement in the mid 1980's. After retiring, he took exceptional care of his Dad until his death in 2004. Sonny was a very devoted brother, uncle and great uncle. He was an uncle, but like a second dad to his nephew and niece. He was a friend to many. Surviving are two Sisters, Debbie Bland and Susie Mundy, both of Covington; his nephew, Mike Mundy, Jr., and his wife, Melisha, of Covington; his niece, Jennifer Mundy of Covington; great nieces Briana Mundy and Olivia Mundy of Staunton, Cheyenn Mundy, Hailey Gibson and Autumn Mundy, all of Covington; great nephews, Logan Mundy and Michael Mundy III, both of Covington. Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Mike Mundy, Jr., Steve Ayers, Gary Ayers, Emmitt Ayers, Jeremy Goode, Kevin Paxton, Jonathan Mongold and Johnny Graham. Alternate pallbearers will be Andrew Reynolds and Terry Rose.

The boys begged for his attention. One bought a brand new Harley just to try and get Bob to ride with him and never did. He ran around with others. There was no Christian anything, wasn't allowed to talk about Jesus. The boys are in and out of prison, one is all over the internet and in prison for destroying property and beating on women. He partied his whole life putting himself first breaking his kids and hearts through it all. The parents partied and used the kids as bait between the other kids family,it's a mess that left everyone in the family a miserable mess. Everyone knows who he really is, and his wife. She would enable her sons to beat on women and help them do it while the women begged her for help she and Bob would just laugh at them and do nothing to.the boys. There was no relationship between the kids and Bob, the kids tried so hard they went mental, emotional, anger/rage problems. This is a very rough bunch yet still prayers for their loss and that they truly find Christ sincerely.
