Marshall Wayne Jeter, age 70, of Covington, died October 6, 2023, at his residence.


Mr. Jeter was born June 5, 1953, in Covington, a son of the late Armistead and Doris Chapman Jeter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two sisters, Gloria Jeter, and Brenda Brown: 5 brothers, Curtis Jeter, Armistead Jeter, Jr., David Jeter, Roderick Jeter, and Stacey Jeter; two nephews, Carlos Jeter and Ricardo (Ricky) Jeter.


Marshall was employed as a 1st operator at Ingevity for many years. He was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church, and an avid Pittsburg Steelers Fan. He loved and adored his family.


Surviving is his wife, Diane Wright Jeter of Covington; a daughter, Shawnta (Deantatony Jones) Jeter of Covington; one grandson, X’avier Jones of Covington; stepchildren, Meisha Henderson, William Henderson, Brandon Wright, Keith Moore, Charlotte Moore, Teresa Barber and Darren Moore; three sisters, Donna Winnings of Covington, Delores (Lloyd) Jordan of Fort Mead, Md., Minister Claudette Stewart of Burton, Texas; six brothers, William Jeter of Waco, Texas, Charles (Valerie) Jeter of Fort Worth, Texas, Stephen, Gregory, Robert (Freda), and Lester (Debbie) Jeter, all of Covington, numerous step- grandchildren and great grands; and a host of family members.


In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated.


A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Pastor Stephanie R. Clark officiating.


The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.


The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Arritt Funeral Home.
