Daisy May Broughfman Durham, 80, of Union Hall, VA, passed away on October 10, 2022, at the Runk & Pratt Senior Living Community in Smith Mountain Lake. Mrs. Durham was born on May 29, 1942, in Rockbridge County a daughter of the late Earl C. and Nellie Iris Staton Broughfman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Henry Durham in January of 2022 and her son in law Maurice Harris. Growing up in Hot Spring Virginia she started working at a young age, she worked babysitting then went on to work alongside her sister Shirley at the sewing factory Jane Colby. After she got married, she moved to Clifton Forge, VA and eventually moved to Manassas, VA where she work for a time at Peebles Department Store. She eventually left Peebles and started her career as a teller for First Virginia Bank. Her last job was working alongside her husband for almost 40 years at the company Precision Engineering and Manufacturing Company that they built together before finally retiring. She had a full-time job that didn't pay much as a loving Wife, Mother, Mamaw and Great Mamaw and that was the job that she loved the best. She gave the best hugs and kisses in town. She was fun loving with a heart so big it could swallow you up with love. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and her favorite color was red. She loved Country Music, Blue Grass and Gospel. She loved going to concerts and getting to meet all the artists. She was all about family and she was the glue that held us all together through the ups and downs and highs and lows and we don't know how we will survive without her. She was always there to lend a kind word or give a big hug or kiss. She had a smile that could melt your heart and anyone that knew her loved her. Surviving are two daughters Teresa Durham Harris; Elisa Durham Landwehr and husband Jeff all of Penhook; five grandchildren Spring Wronski of Gainesville, Curtis Dale Davis, Jr. and wife Angela of Rixeyville, Gregory Keith Clarke Jr. and wife Anita of Rocky Mount, VA, Dylan James Scot Landwehr, and Cheyenne Landwehr both of Penhook; seven great grandchildren Aiden Wronski, Alexis Wronski, Dakota Gearhart, Haven Hunley, Shiloh Hunley, Dylan James Scot Landwehr Jr. and Whitley Davis; three step grandchildren Aryannah and Ayden Wheeler and Summer Ramsey; three sisters Shirley (Thomas) Perkins, Darlene (William) Meadows, Peggy (Johnny) Graham, three brothers Earl (Jeanie) Broughfman, Curtis (Marilyn) Broughfman, and Jesse (Jenny) Broughfman, and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday October 16, 2022, from 2:00PM until 3:00PM following the visitation the funeral service will take place in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Johnny Scearce officiating. The interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park. The funeral arrangements are being handled at Arritt Funeral Home.
