Kenneth Leo Fridley, 88, of 109 Lexington Ave., died, Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Clifton Forge. He was born June 3, 1926 in Eagle Rock, a son of the late William R and Glenos Wolfe Fridley. Mr. Fridley Served with the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from MeadWestvaco in the Carbon Plant. He had a passion for gardening and loved to drive around and site see. He liked NASCAR and was a major Richard Petty fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fridley was preceded in death by two brothers, William Allen Fridley and Jackie Wolfe Fridley and one sister Joyce Offenbacker. Surviving are his wife, of 67 years, Alma Frances Ussery Fridley of Covington; one daughter, Theresa Martin and her husband Gregory of Covington; one son, Kenneth Wayne Fridley and his wife Rita of San Antonio , TX; four grandchildren, Dennis Gregory Martin and his wife Cindy of Covington ; Richard Allen Martin and his wife Kelly of Conyers, GA; Michael Wayne Fridley of Nebraska and Christina Fridley of Tampa, FL; 5 great grandchildren; one sister, Maudine Whitmer of Salem and number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday November 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Alleghany Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. J.B. Broughman officiating. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 , Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive their friends on Monday from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Arritt Funeral Home until time to leave for the service.
