Jean Cormier Velma Jean Beavers Cormier, 72, of 4116 Upper Rich Patch Road died Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem. Mrs. Cormier was born June 17, 1942, in Cedar Bluff a daughter of the late Rufus and Lona Fullers Beavers. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. She had retired in 2004 as an Administrative Assistant with the Prince William County Police Department. She was a member of the Cliffdale Christian Church. Surviving are her Husband of 51 years, Joe Cormier, of Covington; two daughters and Sons-in-law, Shannon and Scott Mitchell of Leesburg and Lisa and Dwayne O'Neal of Front Royal; four grandchildren, Bryan Barentine, Brandon Barentine, Amber Barentine and Ashley Mitchell; one Sister, Phyllis O'Quinn and her Husband, Oakie, of Tazewell; one Brother, Curtis Beavers and his Wife, Vivian, of Cedar Bluff; two Sisters-in-law, Paula Beavers and Virginia Beavers, both of Cedar Bluff and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, her body has been cremated. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Christian officiating. Following the service, the family will receive their friends at Arritt Funeral Home. The family suggest that donations in Jean's name be made to the Boiling Springs Fire Department and Rescue Squad in care of the Treasurer; 4911 Rich Patch Rd., Covington, VA 24426.
