James Lester "June" Brown Jr., 49, of 5906 Bens Run Rd., died, October 3, 2019 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Brown was born October 21, 1969, in Covington, VA the son of the late James L. Brown Sr. and Brenda Retha Jeter Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Jaisean Walton, a granddaughter Rilya Brown and a brother Michael Brown. He worked as an Assistant Operator at Ingevity Carbon Plant and was a former employee of the City of Covington. Surviving are his, four children James L. Brown III, Jeremiah Brown, Jayda Brown all of Covington, and Jamye Brown of Roanoke, six grandchildren MyRikal Walton, Jahkeair Walton, Nhalik Sanders, Aaliyah Ray, Isaac Oliver-Brown, and Toryn Brown, two sisters Rohtondra Brown and Monica Brown of Roanoke, wife Sylvia Brown of Covington, and a friend Rocky Hicks of Covington, and a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, October 11, 2019, at 11:00 AM in the Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ with Elder Gregory Moore officiating. The family will receive their friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family suggests that donations in his name be made to the American Heart Association; P.O.Box 3049; Syracuse, NY 13220.
