Allen Lee "Little Man" Hepler, 87, of 204 E. Mallow Rd., died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 16, 1928 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Charles Guff Hepler and Nora Bennett Hepler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Kemper Hepler in 2005; four brothers, James Myers, Tommy Hepler, Wilbur Hepler and Elmer Hepler and one sister, Dorothy Newcomb. Mr. Hepler served with the United States Army. He retired from the former Hercules Inc. He was a member of First Christian Church; a member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars; member of the NRA and was an avid outdoorsman. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Steve Reed of Covington; three grandchildren, Tiffany and Christian King of Buchanan; Chase Reed and Sarah Reed both of Covington; four great grandchildren, Ethan Bunch of Covington and Sydni Bunch ; Eli King and Kennedy King, all of Buchanan; one brother, Daniel Hepler of Clifton Forge; five sisters-in-law, Ruth Hepler; Dorothy Helper and Jewell Anderson, all of Covington; Betty Kemper of Roanoke and Norma Hepler of Iowa; one brother-in-law, Gene Kemper of Covington; care givers, Courtney Paxton, Susan Hubbard, Chynna Southall , Rita Louk and Hannah Hubbard; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved dog Lilly. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park with Military Rites being conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Wars. The family will receive their friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Arritt Funeral Home. So Shocked, Mary (Angie) we grew up together and she was always a bright spot in my life, had not talked to her for a couple months. We always had fun in whatever we were doing. Prayers for the family, she loved her family so much. Love You My Dear Friend will never forget all our good times.
