Loretta Green, age 77, entered this earthly life on July 20, 1938 and departed to be with her heavenly father on January 11, 2016. She was preceded in death by husband, John L. Green; parents, Eugene and Lucy George; sisters, Erma Hinkle and Darlene George and one great-grandchild, Eden Johnston. She is survived by sons, Michael Green and wife Joan, Doug Green and wife Yvonne, Tim Green and wife Amy; and daughter, Terry Young and husband Carl, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford George and wife Judy; sisters Norma Elliott and husband Don, Sue Lane and husband Kenny, and several nieces, nephews and special niece Bobbie Coughlin. Loretta worked as a hair stylist for over 30 years in Covington. She loved working with her clients and built many friendships that lasted a lifetime. She was a devoted Christian and loved young people and enjoyed spending time with them. Loretta and her husband worked with Word of Life youth for many years. Her interests included crafts, sewing, traveling, flower arranging, ceramics, and scrapbooking. After retiring to Maryville, TN, her love for people led her to work in child care and join the Red Hat Ladies. Loretta's love for her family was always first in her heart. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Loretta and John had 58 happy and loving years together. She will reunite with John in heaven. She will be loved and missed by her family and all who knew her. The funeral service will be Saturday January 16 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. William H. Hartsfield officiating assisted by the Rev. Billy Price. Entombment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive their friends Friday evening from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
