JOE ROCK Joe William Rock, Sr., 72, of 3525 Potts Creek Road answered the Lord's call on Sunday, February 20, 2011, at the Brier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Ronceverte, WV. Mr. Rock was born September 25, 1938, in Page, west Virginia, son of the late Joe and Martha Rachel Hepler Rock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Shires; a brother-in-law, Teddy Dressler, and several aunts and uncles. Joe was a retired contract pipefitter affiliated with the Pipefitter and Plumbers Union of the AFL-CIO, Local #640 in Greensboro, NC. He was an avid sportsman and lifelong Nascar fan. Surviving are his Daughter, Martha Carol Leonard and her husband, William, of Lexington, NC,; two Sons, Joe W. "Jody" Rock, Jr., and his wife, Donna, of Covington, and Michael W. Rock of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Brian Leonard and his wife, Tabatha, and Johnny Leonard and his wife, Melissa, all of Lexington, NC, and Kelly Rock of Covington; three great grandchildren, Jordan Leonard, Jailyn Leonard and Brayden Leonard, all of Lexington, NC; three sisters, Juanita Dressler, Barbara Deisher and Gladys Bates and her husband, Alvin, all of Covington; three brothers, Raymond Rock and his wife, Chris, of Mt. Airy, NC; Terry Rock and his wife, Dana, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Jeter W. Rock of Kernersville, NC; a brother-in-law, Benny Shires, of Paint Bank and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including "Nick" Nickell of Covington. Interment will be made in Lone Star Cemetery.
