MICHAEL ENGLE Michael Robin Engle passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital. Mike was born on October 10, 1946 at the C & O Hospital in Clifton Forge, VA to the late Edward H. Engle and Lillian Sink Engle. He is survived by a brother, Butch Engle and his wife Bessie, and his sister, JoAnne Wilhelm. He has an aunt Barbara Sink Bailey and her husband Ed. Mike grew up in Clifton Forge and went on to Virginia Military Institute, graduating in 1969. While there he loved running on the track team. From there he went on to serve his country as a lieutenant in the United States Army which included a tour in Vietnam. Upon returning home, Mike worked as a house painter for a number of years. He loved to fish and liked the challenge of difficult crossword puzzles. Mike was so fortunate to have many friends in the area that he spent time with over the years. Together they watched a lifetime of Red Sox Games. He is also survived by 3 nieces, Karyn Warren and her husband Dave; Tracey Morris and her husband Frank; Tamara Powers and her husband Scott ; two nephews, Chip Wilhelm and Trey Engle, great nephews, Joshua Howard, Matthew Howard, Miles Powers and Trent Powers. The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park with graveside rites being conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Pallbearers will be Chip Wilhelm, Paul Campbell, Charlie Sink, Oliver Reid, Bill Jones and Mike Jamison. Memorial Information The family suggests that memorial donations in Michael's name may be made to either the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, VFW , 710 Dolly Ann Drive, Covington, VA 24426or to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
