VIOLET WOODING Violet Coles Wooding, 90 of 826 Long Avenue, died, Sunday , March 13, 2011 at Berry Hill Nursing Home in South Boston. She was born December 17, 1920, in Eagle Rock, a daughter of the late Norwood C. and Josephine Penn Coles. Mrs. Wooding loved to cook and sew and she was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ and the Mother's Club of the church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Saunders Rogers, her second husband, William "Slick" Wooding; one son, William Wooding, Jr.; a grandson, Anthony Wooding; a granddaughter, Desiree "DeeDee" Carter; a great grandson, Antonio "Duke" Hill and two brothers, Norwood "June " Coles" and William "Bay" Coles. Surviving are her children, Carol Rogers Hill of Covington; Carol Kelley and her husband, Thomas of Washington, DC; Edward Wooding and his wife Janet and Norwood Wooding and his wife, Debra, all of Roanoke ; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren,; one brother-in-law, Eldridge Wooding and his wife, Barbara of White Sulphur Springs, WV ; a God Daughter, Laronna "Dollie" Harris of East Lansing, MI and a number of nieces and nephews. The interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
