Carolyn Bell Edwards Tolley, 82, of Goshen fell asleep in the Lord on March 1, 2023, at the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center.


Mrs. Tolley was born on December 16, 1940 in Rockbridge County a daughter of the late Laymond Douglas and Alice Ayers Edwards.


She retired from the Social Security Administration as a Claims Representative, where she made many life long friends.


She was a member of the Central Advent Christian Church where she was known as the “Candy Lady” but was best known as Granny to everyone. She had a generous, giving heart and loved to do for others.


In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Stephen Edgar Tolley; a brother William Earnest Edwards; and a sister A. Lorraine Edwards.


In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated.


She is survived by a daughter and best friend Karen T. (Scott) McIntyre; two grandsons Ethan T. (Anisha) Craft and Cody A. Craft; a great grandson Aiden Miles Craft; a special niece Michelle (Ben) Jolley; the father of her grandchildren Wesley E. Craft II; a sister Wanda (Todd) Cook; a special friend Debbie (Dan) Rodgers; and a host of nieces and nephews.


A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Ayers officiating.


The family will receive their friends following the service at Arritt Funeral Home.


A special thank you to all the employees who loved her at the Woodlands.


In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center at 1000 Fairview Ave. Clifton Forge, VA 24422, or the Alleghany Humane Society at 9313 Rich Patch Rd. Covington, VA 24426.


The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
