MAZIE HIPES Mazie Parr Hipes, 95, of 4424 Pitzers Ridge Road, died, Monday June 2, 2008 at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. Mrs. Hipes was born June 22, 1912, in Botetourt County, a daughter of the late Walter Fenton and Pinie Paxton Parr. Mrs. Hipes was a member of Persinger Memorial United Methodist Church. She always enjoyed traveling and different types of needle work. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hipes was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pierce Hipes in 1972 ; three sisters, Mabel Roberts, Nettie Craft and Annie Johnson and five brothers, Paul Parr, Fenton Parr, Cecil Parr, Bertrant Parr and Hubert Parr. Surviving are her two daughters, Geraldine Roberts and Rosemary Simmons, both of Covington; two sons, Jack P. Hipes of Covington and Jay H. Hipes and his wife Barbara of Eagle Rock; a sister-in-law, Gladys Parr of Chesapeake; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. David Brown officiating. The interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
