Leona Humphries Conner, 9o, of 332 East Gordon Street died Wednesday, July 25, 2018, in the Brian Center Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Low Moor. Mrs. Conner was born November 7, 1927, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late Albert and Elsie Bush Humphries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a Sister, Eilene Andrews, and a Brother, Gene Humphries. She had retired from the Environmental Services Department of the former Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Covington and Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. She was a longtime member of the Mountain Valley United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Good Hope Rebekah Lodge and the Women of the Moose. Surviving are her two Daughters, Vickie Reed Shaffer Williamson, of Eagle Rock and Cyndie Reed Bradley of Covington; four grandchildren, Scott Shaffer and his Wife, Sherry, of Clifton Forge, Troy Shaffer of Richmond, Victoria Bradley of Alexandria, Cole Bradley of Harrisonburg and several nieces and nephews including Kathy McCoy and her Husband, Robert, of Covington. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Greer officiating assisted by the Rev. F. Lee Dotson. Interment will be made in the Humphries Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Scott Shaffer, Troy Shaffer, Cole Bradley, Mike Humphries, Mark Humphries and Jason Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be James Napier, Buzzy Eggleston, Eston Burge, T. J. Humphries, Robert McCoy, Robert Jackson and Buzzy Tucker. The family will receive their friends on Saturday from 12:30 PM until service time at Arritt Funeral Home and other times at the home of Cyndie Bradley at 4017 Midland Trail, Covington, VA 24426.
