Monika Waultraud Rettig Gilkeson, 80, of 3921 Potts Creek Road died Friday, July 23, 2021, in the Brian Center Nursing Home at Low Moor. Mrs. Gilkeson was born May 29, 1941, in Berlin, Germany the daughter of the late Willie and Martha Strasdeck Rettig. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Klaus Rettig. She was a member of Pinnell Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are her Husband of 55 years, Joe Gilkeson of Covington; her Daughter, Nicole Pendleton, and her Husband, Raymond, of Daleville; her granddaughter, Eva Pendleton, of Daleville, her grandson, Grant Pendleton, of Daleville and her nieces and nephews in Germany and The United States. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 26, 2021, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Entombment will be made in the Alleghany Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive their friends for one hour before the service at Arritt Funeral Home.
