David Carl Thompson Sr., 50, of Covington, died Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Thompson was born October 11, 1969, in Alleghany County, the son of James Lawrence Thompson Jr. and Brenda Fridley Thompson of Covington. David was employed as a truck driver and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Most of all he enjoyed "hanging out" with his sons. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his four sons, David Thompson Jr., of Clifton Forge, Austin Thompson and Adam Thompson both of Covington, and Aaron Thompson of Low Moor, two grandchildren Grayson Thompson and Rowen Thompson; two brothers ,James Thompson, III of Summerville, SC, and Chris Thompson of Covington, a sister, Kimberly Thompson, of North Carolina, and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 7, 2020, at 2:00PM at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Edith Snedegar officiating. The family will receive their friends Friday from 12:30 until 1:30 at Arritt Funeral Home. The interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. So Shocked, Mary (Angie) we grew up together and she was always a bright spot in my life, had not talked to her for a couple months. We always had fun in whatever we were doing. Prayers for the family, she loved her family so much. Love You My Dear Friend will never forget all our good times.

I have known Todd since he was young child in pre school programs…My son Ken and Todd have been friends since they were young..Todd will be greatly missed by his Special Olympic friends and family. Rest in peace Todd.
