LIBBY McDANIEL Elizabeth King "Libby" McDaniel, 95, of 802 N Augusta Avenue went to be with her Lord Monday, April 6, 2020, from her home. Mrs. McDaniel was born November 9, 1924, in Buchanan a daughter of the late Matthew L. King and Amanda Sprouse King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Roy M. McDaniel, her Sister, Beatrice Ogden and Brother-in-law, Ralph Ogden. Libby was a member of Mt Carmel United Methodist Church, Rebekah State Lodge of Virginia and a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Covington Post 1033, VFW. She was a former Girl Scout leader with Troop #4 at the former Rivermont School. She was employed for 16 years at the former Alleghany Apparel Sewing Plant in Covington and then worked for 17 years as a CNA at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Clifton Forge. Surviving are five children, Barbara Mabe, of Pilot Mountain, NC; Roger McDaniel and his wife, Bobbie, of Lexington, NC; Judy Fridley of Covington; Sandra Bates of Kernersville, NC and Amanda Hedgecough and her husband Alan, of Kernersville, NC; nine grandchildren, Monica Edwards Wilson and her husband, Duane, of Pilot Mountain, NC; Roger McDaniel, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Saudi Arabia; Mark McDaniel and his wife, Tiffany, of Greensboro, NC; Jeff McDaniel of Savannah, GA; Debbie Fridley Bryan and her husband, Andrew, of Sanford, NC; Jason Bates of Kernersville, NC; Matthew Bates and his wife, Lori, of Winston-Salem, NC; Tony Bates and his wife, Tara, of Boone, NC; and Roy Alan Hedgecough of Kernersville, NC; great grandchildren Sarabeth Wilson Beck and her husband, Austin, of Pilot Mountain, NC; Jackson Wilson of Raleigh, NC; Kelsey Wilson Barnard and Husband Zack of Morehead City, NC; Max McDaniel of Saudi Arabia; Abigail McDaniel and Amelia McDaniel both of Greensboro, NC; Drew Bryan and Austyn Bryan both of Sanford, NC; Summer Bates of Greensboro, NC; Caleb Bates of Winston Salem, NC; Taylor Bates, Cody Bates, Jacob Bates, Lilly Bates and Nathan James Bates, all of Boone NC; four great great grandchildren, Kayson Beck, Karson Beck, Eli Beck and Liam Grant Beck all of Pilot Mountain, NC; three nieces, Brenda Jordan of Midlothian, Ruby Clark of Glasgow and Norma Jennel of Roanoke; one nephew, Sam Linkenhoker and his wife, Charlotte, of Springwood. In keeping with the guidelines of the current pandemic crisis, a private graveside will be held Friday, April 10, 2020, in Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at a later date. The family suggests that memorial donations in Libby's name be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church; 1200 North Alleghany Ave.; Covington, VA 24426. Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
