Alice Sutphin Williams, 81 of 712 Wrightstown Ave., died, March 31, 2014 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital. Mrs. Williams was born October 20, 1932, in Covington the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Knighton Sutphin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ernest W. Williams Sr. in 2011 and two sisters Jean Caul and Bertha Edwards. Mrs. Williams was a retired nurse in 1995 from Dr. William J. Ellis office after 31 years of service. Surviving are her daughter Julie Meadows and husband G.L. of Covington, one son Ernest W. Williams Jr. and wife Loree of Covington, five grandchildren Kristi Persinger and husband Jeremy, Brandon Williams, Allison Williams, Regan Meadows, and Peyton Meadows all of Covington, 1 great grandchild Jace Persinger of Covington, one brother Robert Stuphin and wife Vivian of Covington, one sister, Margaret Howard and husband Curtis of Statesville, NC, one special cousin Sue Byers of Covington, special friends and caregivers Linda and Jim Tinsley, and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held April 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Bowser officiating and assisted by the Rev. Gary Marshall. The interment will be made in the Alleghany Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 at Arritt Funeral Home, and at other times at 712 Wrightstown Ave. Covington, VA 24426. The family ask that memorial contributions be made in honor of Mrs. Williams to the American Cancer Society Attn: Karen Buzzard 807 McCormick Blvd. Clifton Forge, VA 24422, and to the Calvary Baptist Church 113 N. Wills Ave Covington, VA 24426. We had the pleasure of meeting Dontae at the wrestling tournaments. Our grandson Tyson started his Jr year and Dontae was a true inspiration to Tyson. He was always cheering on any teammate who was getting ready to hit the mat and he was always there when the match was over telling them good job whether they won or lost. I don't think I ever saw him that he didn't speak. He was a true blessing to anyone he ever met and I know Tyson will always have a special angel watching over him. RIP Dontae
