Wanda Jean Bowers Whiting, 77, of Covington, VA went to her Heavenly Home on February 13, 2024. She passed away peacefully at her home on Potts Creek Road surrounded by loved ones.
Wanda was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Wanda was married to her loving husband, Garland Whiting for 61 years and served by his side in the callings they both had in the church. She was a devoted mother and housewife and took care of those in need, including her siblings until they passed away. She continued to serve others when she started working at Kroger in the deli after her children were grown. She loved to serve all those that she met and had a kind heart to all. Disability slowed her down and she was unable to do the things she loved as she got older.
She is survived by her husband, Garland Lee Whiting, two sons, Darrell (Lynn) Whiting and Randall (Brandy) Whiting of Covington, and a daughter, Heather (Jeremy) Judd of Lebanon, TN; ten grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Kellison, Jacob, James, Eli, Nicholas, Maci, Luke, and Bo; one great-grand son, Troy and another on the way. She is also survived by her sisters, brother, and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held, Monday, February 19, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. with President Ray Lockhart officiating in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 4:00-5:00 P.M. Interment will be at the Lone Star Cemetery.
Arritt Funeral Home has been entrusted to handle the arrangements.

We all miss you, and it’s just not the same without you. You were a wonderful Mother-In -Law, to who accepted me totally for who I am and that meant the world to me and I thank you for that. You were also a loving wife to Garland for 61 years, and your children Heather Judd ( Jeremy) Randall Whiting (Brandy)and Darrell Lee Whiting. You were a wonderful Grandmother to many grandchildren and a humble person, and also loved by all the lives you touched in the Church and the community. I am glad you are no longer suffering on this earth and hopefully are at peace. Thank you for loving all of us unconditionally and know that you are loved and missed by everyone.
Love always, Lynn
