Bridgett Armentrout-Edwards went to be with her Lord and Savior February 3, 2022 at home in Covington. Bridgett was born November 19,1959 in Virginia the daughter of Ruth and Winston Armentrout. She was married to the love of her life, Matt Edwards, for 31 years. Bridgett was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents "Daddy Bob" and Grandma (Anna), and all her aunts and uncles. In addition to her husband Matt, she is survived by her cousin Robin Armentrout daughter of her deceased uncle Norris Armentrout, and several other cousins. Bridgett had a close-knit circle of friends whom she called brothers and sisters. Her cancer care partner Tab Broce, his wife Angie Broce and their family of Hot Springs; cousin Frances K White, her husband Jeff of Houston; Pam and Glenn Corson of Cincinnati; Deborah Powers of Verona and Beth Kidd of Waynesboro. Many people took special care of Bridgett through this journey including cousin Beverly Pack, Teenie and Warren Kegley and caregivers Connie Rose and Twila Boyd. She was so grateful for their care. After receiving her Bachelor of Music and a minor in Political Science from Western Michigan University in 1983, Bridgett went on to get her Masters of Arts from WVU in 1992. She taught music for over 35 years and loved her "kids". She retired this past year due to her illness after receiving Teacher of the Year recognition at Craigsville Elementary. Everyone who knew Bridgett loved her. She was fun, good natured, caring - a beautiful soul inside and out. And look out because at Christmas she was on top of the world! It was her favorite time and she went all out for it. One of her accomplishments was her Christmas Village that she put together and kept up for over 10 years. Laying next to the lights of the village was a big comfort in her last few months. Bridgett loved reading, writing, following and discussing politics, directing music performances for her students and playing the organ for Sunday services at Old Stone Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of VEA. She remarked in her final days that she had lived a full and happy life doing what she loved and had no regrets. She was brave and courageous to the end and fought the good fight, running the race God had called her to. Visitation will begin at 1 PM February 9th in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 2 PM. Online guest registration and condolences can be made at Arrittfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bridgett Armentrout-Edwards Scholarship Fund, an annual music scholarship for an Augusta County Public School student, may be made to Highland Community Bank.
