PERCY CALDWELL Percy Granville Caldwell, Jr., 83, of 317 Hawthorne Street, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at his residence. He was born December 2, 1928 in Fincastle, a son of the late Percy G. Caldwell, Sr. and Clara Thomas Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell served in the Korean War with the United States Navy. He retired in 1988 as manager of the Covington store for the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board after over 30 years of service. He was an active member of the Covington Fire Department for over 51 years and was a member of the Covington Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded death by his wife, Doris Tucker Caldwell in 2000. Surviving are his son and daughter- in -law, David and Diane Caldwell of Penhook; his daughter and son- in - law, Sandra and Mike Reynolds of Covington; three grandchildren, Jason Reynolds of Covington; Emily Condrasky and her husband Jason of Greensboro, NC and Dr. Jessica Komlos and her husband Jedd of Baltimore, MD; two great grandchildren; Elaina Condrasky and Weston Condrasky of Greensboro, NC; Special family members, Wanda and Jim Crawford; Lisa Akers, Jason Akers, Austin Akers and Sammy Akers, all of Covington; his loving friend and companion, Katie Dillon Armstrong of Covington and special friends, D.J. Nichols and Angie and Kevin Brammer of Lewisburg, WV. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the Covington Fire Department, Memorial Information The family suggests that memorial donations may be made in Mr. Caldwell's name to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or the Covington Fire Dept . or Covington Rescue Squad, P.O Box 588, Covington, VA 24426.
