James Arnold Givens, 88, formerly of Covington, died, Tuesday August 19, 2014 at Mechanicsville. He was born March 1, 1929 in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, a son of the late Lawrence and Sara Mars Givens. Mr. Givens retired as a truck driver with VDOT. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lucille Wright Given's in 2006; two daughters, Cathy Dunkum and Doris Gail Givens; a grandson, Aaron Chandler and also by one brother and one sister. Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Washington of Aylett and Frances Smith and her husband James all of New Kent; two sons, James Gives, Jr. of Richmond and Shawn Givens of Reidsville; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
