FRED SEMONES Fred Lee Semones, 56, of 224 McDonald Ave., died, Monday, December 21, 2009 at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. He was born April 12, 1953 in Covington, a son of the late Charles and Mary Deffinbaugh Semones. Mr. Semones was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was discharged from the United States Navy in 1988 after 20 years of combined service with the two branches of the military. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Campbell Semones and one sister, Frankie Haley. Surviving are six daughters, Renea Semones of Indianapolis, IN; Linda Gail Amus of North Dakota ; Sherry and Sean Bova of Colorado ; Melissa Semones and Wendy Semones, both of Escondido , CA and Thressia Fink of Grottoes; twelve grandchildren; five sisters, Linda Hosey of Gloucester, VA Betty and Danny Kendall of New Castle; Dorcas and James Martin of Barstow, CA; Sue Lawson of Staffordsville, VA and Peggy and Robert Richards of Jacksonville, NC, several nieces and nephews and his two ex-wives, Charlene Pierce and Wanda Costello. The funeral service will be held Thursday morning, December 24, 2009, at 11:00 AM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery at Narrows at 2:00 PM with graveside rites conducted by Giles County area veterans. Active pallbearer will be Denton Rock, Jr., Curtis Bowles, Curtis Bowles, Jr., Darrell White, Jody Dalton, Wayne Kendall, Joe Fontaine and Cheeze Smith. Alternate will be Joel Hosey. Friends may pay their respects at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends this evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
