FRANCES BOWERS Frances Fridley Bowers, 84, of 4911 Potts Creek Road died Friday, August 22, 2008, in Alleghany Regional Hospital. Mrs Bowers was born October 6, 1923, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late James Morris Monroe Fridley and Emma Florence Bess Fridley. She was an employee of the former Industrial Rayon Corp plant in Covington and was a longtime member of the Wet Ground United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, James M. "Jack" Bowers, in 2005, a granddaughter, Beverly Scott in 1966 and a son-in-law, Jerry Wise in 2007. Surviving are six daughters, Cindy and Paul Howard, Dianne and Tom Smith, Donna and Curtis Nelson, and Wanda and Rick Martin, all of Covington; Lou Wise of Stockbridge, GA and Debbie and Joey Johns of Smoaks, SC; five sons, David and Doris Bowers, Dobie and Becky Bowers, Gary and Ann Bowers, Morris and Wilma Bowers, and Jerry Bowers, all of Covington; 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Loralee and Bobby Wood and Lorean Tucker all of Covington; three brothers, Olanta and Diane Fridley of Covington, and Marvin Fridley and Sebert and Nell Fridley all of Hamilton, Ohio; her devoted dog, Pepper, and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Pastor John Burns officiating assisted by Rev. Lynn Wright. Interment will be made in Lone Star Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from Mrs. Bowers' grandsons. Friends may pay their respects at anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends Sunday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
