Ricky Lee, Jr. On Sunday, December 15, 2013 1st Lt Richard Eugene Lee, Jr. went to be with his Savior Jesus. He was born on Friday, July 14, 1989 in Alleghany County, Virginia. Rick was the loving son of Tonya Kay Jones and Rick Lee, Sr., and step mother Debbie Jo Lee. He was the loving brother to Jeana Denise Lee and a caring friend to Dustin Ross Colberg. He was the grandson of Wendell and Judy Jones and the late Jean P. and George F. Catlett, Sr. He was the nephew of Sonya "Dee Dee" and Danny Milton, LTC Perry E. Jones, Jaclyn " Jac" Jones, and George F. Catlett, Jr. He was the cousin to Dan Milton, Ryan Jones, Emily Jones, Jacob Catlett, and Laura Rogers. Rick gave his heart to Jesus on September 24, 1997. He was infant-baptized on November 5, 1989 and participated in a full baptism of rededication as a young adult with his sister at Covington Bible Church. He joined McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church on April 4, 1999. He loved his church family here and at the many churches he attended in the area. Rick Graduated from Alleghany High School in June 2009 with an Advanced Diploma. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute on May 16, 2011 with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology. He commissioned in the United States Army on July 11, 2011 at Fort Lewis as a Military Policeman. After commissioning and BOLC at Fort Leonard Wood, he was stationed at Camps Red Cloud, Casey, and Stanley in Korea for 15 months where he received The Army Commendation Medal for his meritorious service. For the past 90 days, he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and was recently named the "voice of the battalion". Rick was a talented musician. At AHS, he was a member of the Concert Choir, the Marching, Symphonic, and Jazz bands as a trumpeter. He sang in the New Creations group and played the trumpet in the Brass group at Covington Bible Church. At VMI, he was a founding member of the Men in Gray a cappella group, a member of the Glee Club, a member of the Band Company, and served as a member of the Honor Guard. The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. Memorial Information The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Rick Lee, Jr. fund at the Highlands Community Bank in Covington, VA.
