Ronald Lee Yancey, 73, of 4500 Upper Rich Patch Road, died Friday August 3, 2018 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. He was born December 24, 1944 at Mullins, WV, a son of the late Everett E. and Naomi Huff Yancey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Ron retired in 1985 as a Supervisor with the former Hercules, Inc., after 25 years of service and was also a former EMT at Hercules, Inc. Surviving are his wife, Kathy Smith Yancey of Covington; his daughter, Dianna Yancey of Lynchburg; his son, David Yancey and his wife Jennifer of Christiansburg; his step daughter, Stacie Booze and her husband Matt of Selma; his step son, Jonathan Rose and his wife Ryann of Winston-Salem, NC; six grandchildren, Rhomaleta Wagurak ; Kayla Jones ; Madeline Yancey ;Mallory Yancey; Nicholas Yancey and Carson Rose; two great grandchildren, Naomi Wagurak and Ever Jones; his brother, Tom Yancey of Hinton, WV and his three sisters, Dorothy Lilly of Beckley, WV; Wanda Sears and Flora Mae Richmond, both of Hinton; the Mother of his children, Marlene Yancey of Covington; special friends, Ronnie and Tiney Rose and Jimmy and Catherine Rose, all of Covington and a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. The memorial service will be held Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. Following the service the family will receive their friends at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Ron's name may be made to the Alleghany County Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Rd., Covington, VA 24426.
