DOROTHY SCOTT
Dorothy Elizabeth Roach Scott, 78, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, entered peacefully into her Eternal Life on Friday, June 17, 2011.
She was born January 23, 1933 in Iron Gate, a daughter of the late Henry and Virginia Fitzgerald Roach.
Mrs. Scott was a graduated in 1951 from the former Watson High School. After graduation she served as an Elevator Girl at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs. She went on to work at the New York City Plaza and The Everglades Resort, outside of Miami, FL. She started her tender at the Greenbrier Resort in 1970 and went on to service for over 28 years. After her retirement in 1998 she went back to the Homestead as a Wine Steward for four years. After that she devoted the rest of her career to sitting with the sick and the shut-in for another four years. Dorothy was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts of America in White Sulphur Springs, WV. She transported children to and from athletic events and was an honorary member of the Janey Parta Bearit Club . She was a past president of District #3 of The Federated Colored Women's Association and was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church.
She leaves her treasures and memories to her son, Darren Fitzgerald Scott; two beautiful granddaughters, Brehana Raekell Scott of Ronceverte, WV and Alaina Mariah Scott; one sister, Nancy Pannil of Lackey; one brother, Raymond L. Roach of Hot Springs; cousins, Dell and Pete Swinton of Gloucester; Charles Fitzgerad of Lackey; Helen Green of Adelphi, MD; Lloyd Fitzgerald of Atlanta, GA; Mabel Haynes of White Sulphur Springs, WV and Mavis Preston of Ronceverte, WV.
The interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Gary Holloway, Chris Holloway, Tony Allen and Board Members of Pine Street Baptist Church.
