EDITH NOEL
Edith Wilhelm Noel, 83, of 3022 S. Wildwood Drive, died Thursday evening, December 20, 2012 at LewisGale Hospital Alleghany in Low Moor, VA.
Mrs. Noel was born March 10, 1929 in Botetourt County, the daughter of the late Nelson Odell and Florence King Wilhelm. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Franklin Noel, Jr. in 2005 and by four brothers, Cecil Wilhelm, Ray Wilhelm, Eugene Wilhelm, and Fred Wilhelm.
She was a 1946 graduate of Eagle Rock School. She continued her education at Mary Washington College, now known as the University of Mary Washington, graduating in 1950 with a BS in Mathematics. During her 36 year teaching career, she taught math at the high school level at the former Fincastle High School and then Covington High School until her retirement in 1988.
Mrs. Noel was a member of the Covington Baptist Church from the time, she, her husband, and daughter moved to Covington in 1959. She later joined the Joy Sunday School Class and served on a variety of committees at the church. She was a member of the Alleghany Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Tim Perry of Chantilly; two grandsons, Matthew Perry of Chantilly and Michael Perry both of Leesburg; a brother, Harold Wilhelm of Troutville' two brothers-in-law, Ernest Noel of Fincastle and Robert Noel and his wife Doris of Daleville; two sisters-in-law, Anna Damerel and Betty Graves and her husband John, all of Richmond, and many nieces and nephews.
In her later years, a number of very dedicated caregivers enriched Mrs. Noel's life both in her home and in The Brian Center.
