Shirley Bowes McFadden Sizemore, age 86, of Covington, died Thursday, February 6, 2025 at her residence.

She was born November 21, 1938, in Greenbrier County, and was preceded in death by her parents, the late Blanchard Bowes and Mary Dotson Bowes; five sisters and four brothers.

Shirley enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children until they started school; then she went to work as a supervisor at Bonanza in Covington and retired from the Covington Pizza Hut as a general manager.  She loved gardening, pulling weeds and especially enjoyed bird watching.

She leaves to mourn her loss a son, Larry McFadden; two daughters, Barbara (Tim) Bennington, and Brenda (Jeff) Lowe all of Covington; one grandchild who was her pride and joy, Chase Bratton of Mooresville, NC; two bonus grandchildren, Caleb Lowe of Harrisonburg and Kara (Nathan) McCallister of Covington; a special feline companion, Toby; two brothers, Bobby (Sharon) Bowes of Franklin, NC and John Bowes of White Sulphur Springs, WVA; a sister-in-law, Gail Bowes of Laurel Fork; her special North Carolina family, Howard Bratton, Bill Bratton, Rhonda Bratton, Dylan Webb and Brayden Webb; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Marshall officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM until the time of service at Arritt Funeral Home.

Interment will be at the Alleghany Memorial Park.

Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
