BETTY RUCKER Betty Haynes Rucker, 68, of 209 West Mountain Drive, died Monday evening, February 7, 2012, in Lewis-Gale Hospital Alleghany. Mrs. Rucker was born April 27, 1943, in Covington a daughter of the late William A. "Bill" and Bettie Nicely "Anna" Haynes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a Son, Preston Rucker, Jr., in 1985 and a sister, Barbara Day, in January of 2011. She was a member of Hokes Chapel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who loved the Lord, her family, her church, and life. She enjoyed Crocheting, quilting, counted cross stitch and baking. She visited the elderly and shut-ins. Surviving are her husband, Preston G. Rucker , whom she married, May 27, 1960; one daughter and son- in -law, Lisa and Mark Nida of Covington; two sons and daughters- in -law, Jerry and Julie Rucker of Covington and William "Billy" Annemie Rucker of Round Hill; eleven grandchildren Shavonnah Rucker; Brooke Rucker; Preston Gilmer Rucker III; Amanda Rucker; Ashley Nida Frame; Ann Marie Rucker; Brittany Rucker; William Rucker; Victor Rucker; Jeremy Rucker and Maxwell Rucker; six great grandchildren; one sister, Jean Lindsay of Covington; a brother-in-law, Perry Day, Jr. of Calabash, NC; one niece Debbie Rose and two nephews, Chris Lindsay and Perry Allen Day III. The interment will follow in Hokes Chapel Cemetery. Memorial Information The family suggest that memorial donations in Mrs. Rucker's name may be made to the Home Chapel United Methodist Church, 4619 Johnson Creek Rd., Covington, VA 24426.
