RALPH PERSINGER Ralph Leroy Persinger, 78, of 422 West Gilliam Street in Covington died Sunday morning, July 26, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Clifton Forge. Mr. Persinger was born October 6, 1930, in Covington a son of the late William A. Persinger and Cora Persinger Persinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the United States Navy. He had retired in 1989 as a maintenance supervisor from Hercules, Inc. after 27 years with the company. Ralph was an avid gardener for all of his life and especially enjoyed harvesting his blueberries. He had a love of antiques and spent many hours restoring everything from furniture to cars. Surviving are his Wife of 54 years, Loretta Fix Persinger, of Covington; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Laura Persinger and Arnold and Penny Persinger all of Covington; his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Ronnie Glover of Union, WV; five grandsons, Justin and Amanda Batten, Jonathan and Terry Batten, Jason and Kelly Persinger, Bradley and Trisha Persinger, and Michael Persinger; one great granddaughter, Heidi Persinger; one step great granddaughter, Cheyanne Tucker; one brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Violet Persinger of Covington; two sisters, Irene Bess of Lexington, KY, and Lelia Rutledge of Greenville, SC and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM at the graveside in Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Hassmer officiating. Friends may pay their respects at anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
