John Raymond Perez, 63, of 1416 Concord Street, Selma, died, Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Alleghany Regional Hospital. He was born June 24, 1945 at Bartley's No. 1 in McDowell, the son of the late Jose Francisco Fernandez "Frank" Perez and Bessie Jenkins Perez. Mr. Perez was formerly employed as a bartender at the Homestead. He was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Selma. In his free time he enjoyed painting, reading and studing genealogy research. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Franklin Perez. Surviving are his wife, Leah Hosey Perez of Selma; one daughter, Cathy Ann Fisher and her husband, Tim of Ringgold; three sons, John Robert Perez and his wife, Misty of Chandler, TX; William Hosey and his wife, Tammy of Colorado Springs, CO and Scottie Wayne Perez and his wife, Patty of English WV; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; two sisters, Clara Ann Perez of Coalwood, WV; Elenor Cooper and her husband, Thurman of Yukon, WV; two brothers, Billy Daniel Perez of Martinsburg, WV and David Manuel Perez of Mannington, WV ; a sister- in-law, Mary Perez of Mannington, WV; one uncle, Jack Jenkins of Sparta, NC a special care giver, Doris Bowers of Covington and a number of nieces and nephews.
