Allen Russell Loan, Jr., 92, of 723 North Rockbridge Ave. died Sunday, September 13, 2015, in the Golden Living Center Nursing Home in Clifton Forge. Mr. Loan was born March 21, 1923, in Millboro a son of the late Allen R. Loan, Sr. and Carrie Neff Loan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife, Anne Hoover Loan in 2013, and also by two brothers. He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army. Mr. Loan was an employee of the former Industrial Rayon Corp in Covington and had retired in 1988 from the maintenance department of the former Hercules, Corp. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and James Hight of Roanoke; two grandson, Brian Hight and Kimberly Bennett of Salem and Timothy and Rosetta Hight of Bedford; six great grandchildren and one brother, John Loan and his wife, Donna, of Covington. The funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Lynn Wright officiating. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive their friends one hour prior to service time at Arritt Funeral Home.
