Mary Jane Wallace Tyler, 80, of 318 S. Marion Avenue, died, Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor.
She was born November 14, 1927 in Cliftondale Park at Clifton Forge, a daughter of the late George and Ester Jones Wallace.
Mrs. Tyler had retired as a clerk after fifteen years with the former Aides Discount Store in Covington and was a former substitute teacher with the Covington School System. She was an active member of Pine Street Baptist church where she was a Deaconess; member of the Willing Workers group, Loyal Daughters and was a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher. She was a former member of the Main Street Baptist Church in Clifton Forge.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tyler was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her husband , Alexander W. Tyler of Covington; her son and daughter-in-law, Alexander and Alvira Tyler of Chesapeake; her granddaughter, Rachel Tyler of Portsmouth ; her grandson, Brandon Tyler of Chesapeake ; several nieces and nephews, including Cornelius Ray and Grace Hickenbottom.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, may 15, 2008 in the Pine Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Thomas S. Simmons officiating.
The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
