William Franklin Harouff, 85, of 219 E. Phillip Street died this morning, August 10, 2012, in Lewis Gale-Alleghany Hospital at Low Moor. Mr. Harouff was born January 9, 1927, in Alleghany County a son of the late Franklin and Melvina Newman Harouff. Bill was a veteran of World War II with the United States Navy. He had retired in 1989 from the waste treatment department of MeadWestvaco after 42 years with the company. He was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, Covington American Legion Post #4, Curtis A. Smith Post #1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Covington Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He is survived by his Wife of 52 years, Shirley Oyler Harouff of Covington and also by several cousins. Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park with graveside rites conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post #1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
