Ricardo Pierre (Ricky) Holloway, Sr., 64, of Roanoke, Va transitioned on October 1, 2023, following his battle with dementia.

Ricky was born May 6, 1959, in Clifton Forge, Va to Jean Holloway Godfrey and Joe Louis Smith. Ricky attended primary schools in Covington, Va, and graduated from Covington High School in 1977. Ricky attended Ferrum (Jr.) College. He was also a proud U.S. Army veteran.

Ricky is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Holloway Godfrey, and father, Joe Louis Smith. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cynthia Holloway (Roanoke, Va). He leaves behind his sons Brian (Debra) Holloway (Fredericksburg, Va), Kevin (Lettisha) Holloway (Gainesville, Va), and Ricardo (Elly) Holloway, Jr. (Covington, Va). Ricky's treasured and loved grandchildren are Bria and Aden Holloway (Fredericksburg, Va), Dequon Rice (Oak Hill, WV), Tavien Holloway (Roanoke, Va), Tyion Holloway (Gainesville, Va), Aleigha Holloway (Clifton Forge, Va), Arias and Ricardo Holloway III (Covington, Va). Ricky is also survived by his brother, Kurt (Gloria) Holloway (Cypress, Tx), and nieces/nephews; Kandice (Lawrence) Garnett (Houston, Tx), Natasha (Armon) Tillman (Cypress. Ricky is also survived by a host of cousins, friends, and associates.

Ricky was baptized at Pine Street Baptist Church, Covington, Va at a young age. During his youth, you could find him preaching from his front porch on Mercer Ave. He was an active member of Spirit of Liberty Worship Center, Roanoke, Va for the past 11 years. Ricky was proudly known as a 'fast' offensive and defensive tackle in high school football, garnering All District and Region honors. Ricky and Cindy were a house divided when it came to pro football. You see, Cindy is a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan; Ricky was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

Ricky will always be remembered for how well he played, and took great pride in playing, his saxophone; he was truly gifted! His memory will live in the hearts of his loved ones, friends, and acquaintances forever.
