Calvin Kester "Cab" Reed, 91, of 6101 Bens Run Rd, died, Tuesday May 28, 2019 at the Springs Nursing Home in Hot Springs. Mr. Reed was born November 21, 1927 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Ernest Lee and Bessie Frances Hoke Reed. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Calvin was a veteran with the United States Navy during World War II. He retired as a mechanic from the former Hercules, Inc. He was a life member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #610 also a former member of the Bordenier Riding Club. Surviving are two Daughters, Vicki Williamson, of Glen Wilton and Cyndie Bradley of Covington, four grandchildren, Scott Shaffer and his wife, Sherry, of Clifton Forge, Troy Shaffer and Sarah Maloney,of Richmond, Victoria Bradley and Mike Eastham of Alexandria, and Cole Bradley of Arlington, one Sister, Erma Dean Patterson of Clifton Forge, one half-brother, Rpbert Reed of Richmond and a number of nieces and nephews. The graveside service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 11:00 AM in the Persinger Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jonathan Greer officiating. Graveside rites will be presented by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive their friends from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Arritt Funeral Home. The family suggests that donations in Mr. Reed's name be made to the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Rd., Covington, VA 24426.
