Clayton Audric Taylor, 87, of 318 West Gilliam Street died Thursday, November 13, 2014, at his home. Mr. Taylor was born January 29, 1927, at Fort Springs, WV, a son of the late Lawrence and Eula Brooks Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a Daughter, Bonnie Proffitt, in 2008 and also by two brothers and three sisters. He had retired in 1992 from the Boilerhouse at MeadWestvaco after 43 years of service with the company. He was a veteran of World War II with the U. S. Navy. Surviving are his Wife of 66 years, Wilma Thompson Taylor of Covington; two Sons and Daughters-in-law, Larry and Susie Taylor of Richmond and Eddie and Sandy Taylor of Covington; his Daughter and Son-in-law, Lisa and Mark Ingram of Powhatan; a Son-in-law, Frank Proffitt, of Covington; seven grandchildren, including a granddaughter and a special care taker, Shelley Johnson and her husband David of Covington; 16 great grandchildren, one great great grandson; one Brother, Clyde Taylor of Ronceverte, WV; one Sister, Maybelle Taylor, of Charleston, WV and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Bowker officiating. Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park. The family will receive their friends Saturday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Arritt Funeral Home. The family suggests that donations in Mr. Taylor's name be made to the Edgemont Presbyterian Church; 2306 S. Church Ave.; Covington, VA 24426.
