Gerald Lloyd Sizemore Sr., 88 of 824 Pocahontas Ave., passed away, March 17, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Sizemore was born November 10, 1932 in Virginia a son of the late Aulden C. and Izora Sizemore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Cleva Gibson Sizemore in 2015, a daughter Carol Arrington, two brothers Donald Sizemore Sr. and Ryland Sizemore,three half-sisters Shelby Broughman, Linda Stevens, and Susie Cobb. Gerald was a retired brakeman for the C&O Railroad and a member of Covington Bible Church. Known as a hard worker and loved his family and was a Indianapolis Colts fan switched to the Denver Broncos to follow his favorite QB Peyton Manning. Surviving are his two daughters and son in laws Lisa Higgins and husband Ruben and Phyllis Phillips and husband Clinton, two sons Wayne Sizemore and wife Dee Ann and Gerald Sizemore Jr. all of Covington, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; Five half-brothers, Wayne Petty, Calvin Sizemore, Larry Sizemore, Audie Sizemore, and Kenneth Petty, one half sister Rosalie Blankenship, close friends Stanley and Nancy Birchfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Sunday March 21, 2021 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Williams officiating assisted by Rev. Steve Noel. Military rites will be presented on Sunday at the service by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive their friends following the service at Arritt Funeral Home on Sunday. The interment will be held private. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
