CAROLYN KIRBY Carolyn McAllister Kirby, 67, of 5815 Indian Draft Road died Monday evening, August 29, 2011, in the Lewis-Gale Medical Center at Salem. Mrs. Kirby was born February 20, 1944, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late Walter and Minnie Rose McAllister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda McAllister. She was a longtime member of Hokes Chapel United Methodist Church and of the United Methodist Women of the church. Surviving are her Husband of 48 years, Sidney Kirby of Covington; her Daughter and Son-in-law, Amanda and Butch Brown of Covington; two Sons and Daughters-in-law, Lewis and Sue Kirby of Covington and Andrew and Tina Kirby of Petersburg; Seven grandchildren, Miranda Kirby, Martin Madali, Tanja Blizzard, Kyle Kirby, Lucas Kirby, Hanna Kirby, and Kirby Lee Brown; five great grandchildren; Two Sisters, Sharon Hayslett and her husband, Julian Hayslett, Jr., and Lois Fleming and her husband, Bill, all of Covington; three Brothers and Sisters-in-law, James and Linda McAllister of Hopewell, Sterling and Cheryl McAllister of Yorktown and Edgar and Sharon McAllister of Sanford, NC, and a number of nieces and nephews. Interment will be made in the Hokes Chapel Cemetery.
