Donald Cardwell Sr. Donald Verlouis Cardwell Sr., 82, of 221 Pinehurst Heights Rd., Hot Springs, died, Friday February 19, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Cardwell was born August 11, 1938 in Bath County a son of the late Rucker Cardwell Sr. and Mayso Kent Cardwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Susan Merchant Cardwell in 2017, a sister Alberta Prescott and a brother Buddy Cardwell. He was a self-employed contractor and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to work and stay busy, very loving, and caring individual for nature and life and was always lending a helping hand. Surviving are his four sons, Donald Jr. of Ohio, Douglas of Denver, CO, and Eric of Richmond, Anthony (Tony) of MD, a stepdaughter La Shawn Powell and husband Junior of Upper Marlboro, MD, ten grandchildren, one great grandson, one sister Bertha DeBrill, three brothers Albert Cardwell, James Cardwell, and Rucker Cardwell Jr. and number of nieces and nephews to include a special niece LaShonda DeBrill. In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
