JOHN McLEAR III John Wesley McLear, III, 53, 236 South River Road, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. Mr. McLear was born February 21, 1955, in Staunton a son of John W. McLear,Jr, and Rosalie Curry McLear of Staunton. John was employed for the past 27 years with the U.S. Forest Service and was currently serving as a timber sales administrator for the James River District. He was a firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service and was an avid outdoorsman for all of his life. He was a member of the Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his Wife, Mary Yopp McLear of Covington; two Sons, Dustin T. McLear and John Wesley McLear, IV, both at home; two brothers, Mike McLear and his fiance', Pat Henderson, and Tim and Kathy McLear all of Stuarts Draft; two sisters, Linda and Dickie Oliva of North Garden and Susan and Jeff Gentry of Fishersville; his sister-in-law, Robin Drummond and her husband, Harley, of Covington and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home in Covington with the Rev. Warren Carswell officiating. Interment will be made in the Fletcher Chapel Cemetery in Covington. Active pallbearers will be Chazy Nicely, Harley Drummond, Sonny Waddell, Boyd Anderson, Steve Marshall, Steve Buck, Mark Schodowski and Hurbie Huffman. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow employees of the United States Forest Service. A reception for visiting with the family will be held on Sunday, October 26 , from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the Church of the Brethren in Staunton. Memorial Information The family suggests that donations in Mr. McLear's name be made to the Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
